MW Motorsport will field three Nissan Altima entries in the 2022 Dunlop Super2 Series.
Thomas Maxwell, Angelo Mouzouris and returning driver Tyler Everingham will be the three drivers flying the team’s flag this year as the line-up provides a mixture of youth and experience.
Maxwell joins MW Motorsport after a stint racing in Europe where he contested the British Formula 3 and Renault Eurocup titles, before returning home to race Porsche Carrera Cup Australia. This season marks Maxwell’s first in a touring car.
Mouzouris needs no introduction to the local landscape. The 20-year-old won the 2019 Australian Formula Ford Championship before competing with rival Super2 team Triple Eight during the past two seasons.
For this season, Mouzouris will pilot an MW Motorsport Nissan Altima for the first time.
Preparing to undertake his third Super2 season with MW Motorsport, Everingham has achieved three wins in his career to date in the category.
Everingham has proved to be one of the future stars of the sport and will give the team stability in the opening rounds.
MW Motorsport is regarded as one of the Super2 category’s premier teams, having taken four championship wins, including 20 round victories and 48 race successes.
Last year, Jayden Ojeda was the best placed MWM driver, finishing third
The first event of the 2022 Dunlop Super2 Series will be held at Sydney Motorsport, supporting the Supercars SuperNight race on March 4-6.
QUOTES
Tyler Everingham
MW Motorsport driver
“Super excited. We were pretty strong last year, so I’m confident keeping that connection with the team,
“I feel like we have a head start, having been with the same team and same car as the past couple of years, so I really know what I’m in for.
“We were strong last year and got some race wins. There was some bad luck too, so we’re just really keen to keep progressing and hopefully, with the experience that we have, we can have the jump on everyone else.”
Matthew White
Owner, MW Motorsport
“It’s great to lock in our drivers for the 2022 season,” said White.
“All three drivers will bring something new and exciting to our team, and we really feel we’ll be able to launch into the season on the front foot.
“Angelo has shown that he was very fast in the Triple Eight car over the past couple of years. He tested with us recently and he will have no problem jumping towards the front of the field from the outset.
“Thomas has been testing with us and is showing great signs. He is a Supercars rookie, but he is making a steep learning curve look easy. We feel that he is going to be a surprise packet this year.
“And it’s great to have Tyler back with us. He took his first race wins last year and is a star on the rise. There’s no reason why he can’t start the season the way he finished it.”
