Ice Break Racing’s Chris Pither has secured his first ever ARMOR ALL Pole Position in qualifying for the V8 Supercars Dunlop Series this morning.
The kiwi’s best of a 57.21secs around the Barbagallo circuit was enough to edge Cameron Waters to the top spot by 0.054 – a closer gap than seen between Chaz Mostert and Mark Winterbottom during the first V8 Supercars qualifying session this morning.
ARMOR ALL Pole Position was a sweet reward for Pither, after his MW Motorsport Falcon suffered an engine misfire in the first practice session yesterday, before his #50 entry took the top spot in practice two.
“I’m over the moon,” said Pither.
“It was a tough start to the weekend [with the engine misfire in practice one], but thankfully the car is quick and we didn’t have to do much in that second practice session.
“To come away with my first pole, I couldn’t be happier and hopefully, this is the start of a good season.”
MW Motorsport teammate Jack Le Brocq will start race one in third, alongside Eggleston Motorsport’s Paul Dumbrell in fourth.
Andrew Jones was the highest placed Brad Jones Racing Commodore in fifth, while rookie Simon Evans took his Super Black Racing Falcon to the sixth grid spot.
Aaren Russell, Todd Hazelwood, Paul Morris and Jesse Dixon rounded out the top ten.
