Second year Dunlop Series driver Shae Davies will move from Matt Stone Racing to MW Motorsport for the 2016 season, replacing the departing Jack Le Brocq and Chris Pither, who both enjoyed their most competitive DVS seasons with the outfit during 2015.
Davies heads into his second full year of Dunlop Series competition, having claimed the Kumho Tyres V8 Touring Series car crown in 2013. After spending last year contesting his rookie Dunlop Series campaign and selected Porsche Carrera Cup races where the schedule allowed, Davies is looking to focus his energies on the MW Motorsport program and has his sights firmly set on challenging for the championship.
“2016 will be a very different DVS year with COF (Car of the Future) chassis’ being allowed into the championship and I feel sure that Matt (White, team boss) will have a very competitive package. His cars were as quick as any on track last year and after evaluating all possibilities I’m convinced MW Motorsport is the right place for me. I was happy to claim top rookie status in last year’s championship and now have my sights firmly set on podium finishes and securing my first Dunlop Series race win.”
White too is enthusiastic about securing the services of the 25-year-old. “Shae displayed some very promising signs last year in the Dunlop Series and his appearance and pace in the Erebus Mercedes GT machine in New Zealand really captured our attention. We look forward working with Shae and helping him take the next step in V8 Supercars.”
Davies joins Darwin’s Bryce Fullwood at MW Motorsport with White looking to run up to four cars in his 2016 Dunlop Series assault.
