JAYCO Nissan Altima Super2 driver Jayden Ojeda is excited to be back in Sydney, and back at his home track, for the Beaurepaires Sydney SuperNight this weekend.
Being the only Sydney resident driver in either of the Repco Supercars Championship or Super2, it was an unconventional lead up to the Townsville events and since. Jayden had to flee Sydney a couple weeks earlier than he had planned and ended up staying away for almost four months from home, to ensure he was able to race.
After two consistent weekends in the Dunlop Super2 Series in Townsville in July the 22-year-old sits third in the Super2 championship, having recorded four podium finishes. Jayden ultimately left Townsville with two second placings and two third placings and is focussed on consolidating his standing as a title hopeful this weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park.
“I am really looking forward to getting back out on track this weekend after five months since our last race. To top it off I get to race my Jayco Altima in my own backyard. I’ve had itchy feet the past three weeks watching the Supercars blast around Sydney Motorsport Park,” said Jayden.
“It means a lot to get to race at home, I spent a few months in Queensland during the break and being able to go racing again with home support will be awesome. There is always an atmosphere around racing at home with friends, family and local partners being able to get to the event” he added.
Jayden is currently third in the Super2 Series, 87 points behind Triple Eight Race Engineering’s Broc Feeney and 36 adrift of Tickford Racing’s Zak Best.
“We had a strong bunch of results over the 2 weekends in Townsville, both me and the Matt White Motorsport team will be looking to do the same and find ourselves at the front of the field again. Racing under lights Saturday will be awesome, the cars look great under lights, and it adds another aspect into driving”.
“It’ll be great to get some local partners out to the track in what has been a difficult year for all. Hopefully I will be able to give everyone a reason to smile come Sunday afternoon,” said Ojeda.
The Super2 schedule for this weekend is below, Jayden will also be on track in the Bathurst 1000 Co-drivers session on Friday.
All sessions will be broadcast live on Fox Sports and streamed via Kayo. The Seven Network will broadcast live from 3:30pm AEDT on Saturday and 12:30pm AEDT on Sunday.
