- Jack Le Brocq named official “Reserve Driver” for Nissan Motorsport
Nissan Motorsport today confirmed that rising star Jack Le Brocq will join its 2017 Supercars program in a newly-created “Reserve Driver” role, mixing races in both the Virgin Australia Supercar Championship and the Dunlop Super2 Series.
Le Brocq’s GoGetta Racing Nissan Altima will contest a full program of Dunlop Super2 Series races in 2017, including the non-championship event supporting the Bathurst 1000.
The GoGetta Nissan Altima will also be seen in several Virgin Australia Supercars Championship rounds, competing under the ‘Wildcard’ system which enables Dunlop Super2 Series cars to be up-specced to contest main series events.
Le Brocq will also join the factory team for the 2017 Endurance Cup, partnering Todd Kelly in the Carsales Nissan Altima.
“To be offered an opportunity to join the factory Nissan program in this way is awesome,” Jack Le Brocq said.
“Being the first to race an Altima in the Dunlop Super2 Series is fantastic and the program with Nissan Motorsport is truly integrated. Having driven for Matt White previously, I know we have every chance of winning the title.
“Add in co-driving duties with Todd (Kelly) in the enduros, a couple of ‘Wildcard’ races and total integration into the factory program and there’s a lot to look forward to.
“I can’t wait to get started.”
Le Brocq was the most successful driver of the 2016 Dunlop Series with seven race wins, three clean sweeps and the series pole position award.
“We had a great season last year and easily won the most races, but weren’t as consistent as we should have been, and just missed out on the title,” Jack Le Brocq admitted.
“I want to put that right this year, and repay the faith put in me by GoGetta and our many other supporters.”
Named as Nissan Motorsport’s official “Reserve Driver”, Le Brocq will be deeply embedded in all aspects of the Nissan Altima Supercars program in 2017.
“Jack’s job will be to learn everything he can about the cars and our program,” Nissan Motorsport team owner Todd Kelly said.
“He’ll have a head start, of course, with the Dunlop Super2 Series program and we will collaborate very closely on that throughout the season.
“But as ‘Reserve Driver’ Jack will be across everything we do, from our development and testing program, to team briefings with our main series drivers and engineers.”
GoGetta Equipment Funding will again support Jack’s racing ambitions in 2017.
“Getting behind Jack a year ago was something completely new for our business but it’s been a huge success for us in every way,” Kevin Savvas – Group Sales & Marketing Manager – GoGetta Equipment Funding, said.
“Jack is a fantastic ambassador for GoGetta and has been embraced throughout our business … he’s made fans of people who barely knew motorsport existed.
“GoGetta is right behind Jack and is determined to see him fulfil his dreams in the sport.”
The GoGetta Racing Nissan Altima will be run in the 2017 Dunlop Series and ‘Wildcard’ rounds by Matthew White Motorsport.
